People love their bathroom, after all, it's an intimate space where grooming and much needed 'me' time happens. So it's not surprising when our clients are quite specific when it comes to their design requirements. We're currently working on two different projects at the moment, featuring clients who have radically different tastes. At the moment, we've gone from a traditional, timeless look for one client to a modern, minimal interior style for another. However, there are a few trends we've noticed which are becoming increasingly popular whatever look you go for, so we thought we'd share our Top Five with you for 2018.

Mix + Match Detailing

Most people forget flooring and automatically go for floor tiles of some sort. Mixing it up your finishes and opting for more traditional flooring you might use around the house can have a massive impact on the overall look of your bathroom. This technique is perfect for en-suite or even family bathrooms. We love the way the dark timber flooring works against the light blue vanity unit and blue and white tiles, giving it a modern yet traditional feel to it.

Going Green

Yes, the colour green is making more of an appearance in bathrooms this year. It's controversial for many who prefer the minimal, clean look but a splash of colour never hurt anyone, and perfect for those who want to inject a bit of personality into their interior. The trick is to pair it with white tiles, so the green is less overpowering. This colour compliments house plants, so if you want a touch of nature, stick to varieties that love humidity, if you're stuck then check out Patch as they know their stuff when it comes to house foliage - they even name their plants!

Double Decor

Master en-suites are the ideal place to personalise what you and your partner want from a bathroom, and nothing says a couples bathroom more than twin mirrors. This trend is definitely on this year's list and, it doesn't end with mirrors but also twin sinks and accessories too. Aim for symmetry and opt for quality detailing with metallics or bold contrasting colour like black edging against white tiles which is a trendy bathroom combination right now.

Geometric Decor

Squares, circles, triangles create balance and calm, so it's not surprising clean geometric shapes and patterns are making an appearance in modern bathrooms. We used this approach for a monochrome bathroom we designed in North London, we love how defined edges make sleek bathroom decor, and having a faint feature wall made of herringbone tiles like this interior breaks up the clinical feel of using such basic shapes.

Freestanding Bathtubs

If you have the money, something very grand in the bathroom is a freestanding bathtub; it just oozes sophistication and opulence. A stand-alone tub is a must-have feature which will never go out of fashion and even works well within a limited space. You can enhance this by using feature floor tiles to draw focus, and we just adore the mini chandelier in this design which adds the perfect amount of self-indulgent decadence needed for a long soak.
