LIGHTING

A bedroom should have at least 3 different lighting sources: ceiling lights (spots or chandeliers), a table lamp for your dressing table or desk and 2 reading lamps on both sides of the bed. Spot lights alone are basic and yes they do their job but you can forget about the cosiness a softer light source provide. If you have the budget use LED strip lights too, they create a very dramatic effect.

TIDY UP

It may sound obvious but a tidy bedroom is perceived by our our eyes as more calming and relaxing. Imagine walking in a room with socks on the floor and books piled up on your bedside: you will get an instant reaction to get everything in order. So it’s important that before leaving home in the morning you take some time to make your bed and tidy up the room. Once back home you can just enjoy your well deserved bed.

USE CLOSED STORAGE

In addition you will hide everything that is related to your day life: the bag you use to go to work every morning or the suite you need to wear for tomorrow meeting. BEDDING

You don’t have to spend a fortune on bedding but you will get what you pay for. Natural fibres are better as they keep you cool or warm and are breathable. Buy a runner and cushions to dress your bed up, nothing it’s better than soft furnishing to give you a sense of comfort. You may need to consider to add a rug too, stepping out of bed on a cold flooring is not a good way to start the day.
